A study of the everyday handle. Omnipresent, and occasionally omnipotent, the handle has a dominant role in the way we go about our day. From door handles to bag handles, there is nothing more personal than your mug handle for that morning coffee.
Hendo is a controlled experiment - the central mug and colours are always the same - hence concentrating solely on the effect of the handle on the user. 8 categories were created (eg. ‘the sharer’ or ‘the measurer’) to showcase the effect of the handle.
The handle can not only dictate how an object is used but also the entire aesthetic. Using empirical exploration and humour, Hendo aims to make the user more conscious of their interaction with a product.
