Plakias is an interior design project based on the original work by architect Takis Zenetos and inspired by Habitat 67 by Moshe Safdie. Starting with a simple capsule, the intention of the project is to create a ‘city’ that spreads across a mountain side and incorporates living spaces, gardens, shops, offices, restaurants and all sorts of public amenities.
By taking the original Zenetos module we were able to create easily modifiable interiors with highly customisable features. Each unit is presented with a modular wall on one side, while the housing capsule also incorporate a hidden compartment where the bed can safely be stored, allowing the users to maximise their space.
The use of local materials and integrating mechanical and reusable architecture into nature has become increasingly important over the years. By making each module as customisable as possible we intended to safeguard against future developments, always allowing the city’s population to decide what they see fit for their space.
