First established in 2015, the Malaysian Timber Industry Board has attempted to put both international and local designers in direct working contact with local Malaysian furniture producers in order to improve the global image of the brand ‘Made in Malaysia’. Named the Professional Designers Program (PDP), this initiative led both Giorgio Biscaro and me to select six companies with which to work, creating easily marketable and modern designs to be presented at the MIFF and EFE expos in Kuala Lumpur.
